After
She
One image holds all the light.
A flash — then light, A need — then salvation, Passion — then peace, No explanation. Pain — then the darkness, Emptiness — cold, Tears — then the harshness, But was it worth it all? No balance to find, No middle, no side, No beginning, no end — And all of it is her. Atoms of feeling — facets of her, The road through life — meanings of her, Joy in the everyday — the voice of her, All of our dreams — the motion of her. When colors surround us, We say nothing, hand in hand. When darkness surrounds us, We say nothing, tightly embraced. And we don't have to be strong, Just be warmth beneath the rain. The day is the look in her eyes, And the night is her breath again. You can't see all her facets, But you feel every one. The meanings remain unspoken, Yet they hold two hearts as one. I listen to words, And catch happiness there. I watch every movement, And see a dream appear. I keep choosing my words, Afraid the thought might slip away. For she is infinite, And her ideal lies beyond our reach. Then she is simply us — Without shape, without role. She is what lives inside us, Bare of disguise and control. What only we can see, Where our eyes are always drawn, What only we can feel, What makes us want to hold on. And she asks for no words, No proof of what we know. She lives within each breath we take, And in what words can never show.
