After
The Same, Still the Same
Time is not all-powerful.
The noise of the day is gone, The rustle of night settles in. The calendar windows stand bare, The windows of houses grow dim. Moonlight is somewhere near, Just locked behind clouds from here. The traffic light changes its hue, And we play with words, me and you. But inside we're still the same, Still carrying dreams with no change. Our arms hold each other as tight, And kisses still taste just as right. Tiredness stays close by, Like noise through the wall at night. There's concrete under our feet, Still holding us where we meet. A streetlamp shines on the road, Lone windows are warm as they glow. The shadows of trees change their form, Each angle creates a new one. But inside we're still the same, Still carrying dreams with no change. Our arms hold each other as tight, And gently we turn through the days. We hear every breath In the pauses of words, Where meaning needs nothing To make itself heard. And if morning should send us Down roads far apart, We'll still find each other, Wherever we are. But inside we're still the same, Still holding the very same dreams. The very same pictures are hanging On the walls of our souls, and still seen.
