In Different Words
Different rhythms can sound within one shared feeling.
Today you met the rising sun, Where silence speaks when words are done. While I gave morning back to dreams, Not knowing what I'd let slip free. I hear the morning as a chord, Each note revealing one step more. While you already wait for dusk, Where thoughts take flight on waves of trust. We never got the address wrong, Our calendars still move along. We feel the same world through our hearts, But catch its waves on different charts. Everybody has their drive, Their own rhythm, vibe and life. Everybody has their jazz, Their own beat, their own bass. No date or place could make you The person that you are. It's the impulses within you That tuned your dreams to your heart. I built myself from all my “heres,” You — from wonders lost through years. I found my road by asking why, You — through rainbows after rain. The sky and water never fight, Though each one looks a different way. A line between them seems so clear, Yet neither lives without the other near. It's not the time that writes our plot, No city tells us who we are. We're simply two distinctive rays Born from the same unbounded space. Everybody has their drive, Their own rhythm, vibe and life. Everybody has their jazz, Their own beat, their own bass. No date or place could make you The person that you are. It's the impulses within you That tuned your dreams to your heart. But when we're together, it feels light, We love this world with equal fire. We may describe it different ways, The spark within still guides our days. Not every frequency aligns, Yet still we share a common rhythm And every moment when they meet, We rush to make that moment repeat. Today, at dawn, my dream would be To hold you on a lonely peak While you dream of the sunset sea, A kiss in white dres— just you and me. Everybody has their drive, Their own rhythm, vibe and life. Everybody has their jazz, Their own beat, their own bass. No date or place was what connected You and me that day. It was the impulses within us That aligned and found their way.
