Not United, but Together

Unity does not require sameness when a shared light holds us.

Look up now into the sky —
Your gaze is hidden there.
Then look out across the sea —
Your soul is in the waves you hear.

Then turn your eyes toward the mountains —
Deep within, your heartbeat sounds.
Now breathe in the air around you —
Feelings flow both in and out.

Maybe this world doesn't mirror us
In all its strange and living forms.
Maybe we are mirrored in it,
Through simple ties and complex bonds.

Not as one, but still together,
Bound within a space of feeling,
Sealed inside the flight of photons,
Framed by time forever streaming.

Not as one,
But still together.
Not alike,
But standing near.

We don't know
Who we are in forever,
But right now
We're together here.

Not by chance
Our paths aligned.
Our shared light
Is no mistake.

Maybe this
Single moment
Is the answer
We should take.

At an indivisible point of knowing,
We choose the networks that we trace.
Patterns forming who we are
Are rebuilt and shaped again.

If we are different kinds of beings,
There is nothing there to fear.
What matters is that we're together,
Flying through the same winds here.

Maybe unity finds its meaning
Not beyond the distant years,
But in seeing that today
We share the same light while we're here.

Somewhere past our understanding,
Past the axioms we defend,
New connections, new-born theories
Rise from flaws we can't yet mend.

Not as one,
But still together.
Not alike,
But standing near.

We don't know
Who we are in forever,
But right now
We're together here.

Not by chance
Our paths aligned.
Our shared light
Is no mistake.

Maybe this
Single moment
Is the answer
We should take.
