Conditions

As part of oneself

There is no universal measure; only by accepting our neighbor as a part of ourselves and striving to give more than we once took, will we make the world a better place.

I see inspiration behind every sound,
I see thoughts putting motion in motion around.
I see consciousness hiding behind every phrase,
I see expectation alive in a gaze.

I see all the effort, I see all the pain,
I see every attempt, every truth we explain.
I see all the answers, the doubts that appear,
I see love and contempt standing equally near.

There’s room in this world for whatever may be,
But one thing still stays out of reach for me:
Justice as measure, one measure for all —
Not made for the one while the rest have to fall.

Where is that border, that limit, that line
That makes us look inward and question our mind?
Not wanting, not owning, not asking for more,
But creating and giving and teaching instead.

If everyone saw in another
Not a brother, but part of themselves,
Then maybe one word would be enough
To stop the world splitting in halves.

I see happiness up in my clouds,
I see dreams as the pieces of us.
I see fragments and splinters of love,
In my memory — fragments of loss.

I see light in the mirrors of emptiness,
I see lies in the silence of night.
I see puppets held tight by the beast,
In people’s faces — loss and fright.

I see reasons behind our decisions,
I see outcomes behind our convictions.
I see freedom that fear brought to life,
I see order reduced into dust overnight.

I see confidence, stubbornness too,
I see wisdom and arrogance breaking through.
I see laws, and I see those who judge,
I see where money stands — and where I stand.

If giving means having a little bit less,
Why do we feel something more in our chest?
If forgiving does not mean forgetting the past,
Why does living feel lighter at last?

If victory leaves us divided and lost,
Can we still call it victory, whatever the cost?
And if every road has somewhere it must go,
Can we call that freedom when the destination’s known?

If everyone saw in another
Not a brother, but part of themselves,
Then maybe one word would be enough
To stop the world splitting in halves.

I see happiness up in my clouds,
I see dreams as the pieces of us.
I see fragments and splinters of love,
In my memory — fragments of loss.

I see light in the mirrors of emptiness,
I see lies in the silence of night.
I see puppets held tight by the beast,
In people’s faces — loss and fright.

I see systems and all their strict norms,
I see efforts to give everything form.
I see paths in the wanderer’s track,
I see banners raised high through deceit and attack.

I see actions, I see what they cost,
I see prizes and how they are weighed.
I see care, and I see calculation,
I see falling — and flight being made.

But motives can’t ever be weighed on a scale,
Nor can we measure how deep regrets trail.
You can be right while you shatter someone,
You can make one mistake that saves them from a fall.

And I see behind every sound — a choice,
Behind thoughts in motion — the paths they reveal.
Behind everyone’s instinct and struggle to live —
Something that might help another one heal.

I don’t know of one perfect measure
That divides us in “wrong” and in “right.”
But perhaps it’s enough just believing:
Give more than you once took from life.
